Last week a lunatic smashed into my rental car after running a red light at an intersection in the USA. The other driver was at fault, which I can demonstrate via photographs. I was fully insured with the by the rental company and I am not intending on claiming for my injuries. The idiot who hit me was not insured. The rental company says I should be covered for the damage to the car, so do I need to inform my UK insurer? Will my premium go up?

Alright….

–I’m in my car driving and I have a friend with me. I’m waiting at a red light and out of nowhere comes a car that rear ends me. I go outside to talk to the driver, but he runs away ON FOOT. Anyways, I call the cops etc. they write a police report of the accident and my friend complains of "back pain" so I take him to the ER (just like he stated) and he turns out to be fine just that his muscles were pulled.

Anyways, my insurance company (state farm) is covering all of the medical expenses, they give the passenger ,500 to use on medical related issues. My friend goes to the Chiropractor to get more "treatment done" and the bill will exceed ,500 that my insurance company has stated to provide him (they told him before he went to the Chiropractor btw).

Anyways, now he’s complaining that he needs more money, and that he’s going to fight with my insurance company. On the other hand, the guy who is responsible for the entire accident has a crappy insurance policy, not to mention he claims that his car was "stolen", when he never filed a police report prior to the accident stating that his car was stolen(my main suspicion is that he was drunk at the time of the accident, that’s why he ran on foot). Anyways, my insurance company told me friend that he has to either pay through his health-care, or he has to fight with the other guys insurance company if he wants his medical bills paid. My main concern is, am I liable to pay his medical bills even though I wasn’t at fault for the accident? Or would he have to sue either my insurance company or the other guy’s insurance company for his medical bills to be paid off?
REPLY: I live in Texas, so does strict liability still count towards me?

So you guys are all agreeing that it’s NOT my liability to pay for his medical bills (if my insurance company doesn’t) ? Because the accident itself wasn’t my fault, and my insurance company provided everything they could. I AM FULLY INSURED BTW.

Sorry, I don’t know what happens in these legal matters, it’s all new to me. I’m not sure how to phrase this so please bare with me. So months ago I got into a minor car accident. While slowing to a stop at a red light, I rolled into the car in front of me a scratched their bumper. No damage was sustained to my car, and there were some scratches on the other person’s car, mainly because of the screws of this plate that was on the front of my car.
The other person is suing me for injury, and I got a letter today saying that my insurance company’s effort to resolve the injury claim was unsuccessful. It says I may receive legal documents from attorneys and if I do, to contact my insurance company to take appropriate action to protect my interests. I’m waiting for the letter from the attorney as of now.

I’m 18 and I’m worried that my parents will have to end up paying large sums of money because of this minor incident. I think I am registered under them for insurance since I do not myself own a car. I was driving my dad’s.
I’m really worried. I’m scared I will have to go to court and my parents will have to pay thousands of hard-earned dollars. I really did not think the amount of impact I caused would be hard enough to cause injury. I know it’s hard to say but I feel like it’s one of those things to get money. Please explain this process to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Since my insurance company couldn’t settle it, does it mean it will go to court, or will there be more attempts to settle between my insurance company and the victim?

My claim was denied in a car accident?

Several weeks ago I was involved in a car accident. As I was exiting the intersection, this lady came out of nowhere and I hit the front left part of her vehicle. My car was not drivable after this point. I got out of the car and I walked towards her car and I asked her if she was okay. And she nodded. And then I told her that she ran a red light and she acknowledged the fact. I called the police and they told me to call the insurance company and so I did. I also waited for them but they never showed up (Oakland, CA). She was an old mexican lady and couldn’t really speak english. About 45 minutes later her son came walking from the distance and she told me that he speaks english. So I told him "hey.. your mother ran a red light and look my car doesn’t work anymore. I don’t think the police are coming, and I don’t think its necessary for you to wait with me for the tow truck. I have all your information so you can go" So then they left. At this point I trusted her (BIG MISTAKE) But then she turned around and told her insurance company that I was the one that ran the red light.

So, although there are no witnesses (because she admitted guilt to me and I didn’t think I needed them!! ugh) I sued her in a small claims court. Because..its 5 pm on a weekday in a busy intersection and it would have been nearly impossible for me to have driven across 5 lanes of traffic without hitting any other cars, had I ran the red light.

So..My question is…If the judge rules in my favor, is her insurance company going to pay me out? or are they no longer involved?

And any other information regarding this situation would be nice. Thank You

It happens 2 months ago. We were driving home from party that we attend to. We were both were drinking I was drunk and he claim slight buzz and volunteer to drive my car. I own a 2003 Dodge Durango. My friends ran a red light and crash into another car kill my friend instantly. Luckily for me I only suffer few crack ribs and I must confine to a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I want to sue dodge because I believe they were Negligence
When the designed the car. I believe they could have made the car more durable to insure that people won’t die when crash into some other car. If the just made that car little tougher made my friend would be alive today. So I’m suing dodge for ,000,000 for Personal injury because I can’t walk any more ,000,000 because I’m grieving for the lost of my friend. ,000,000 for emotional distress and ,000,000 in Punitive damages cause it their fault for designing that death trap.
my firend was doing the driving in my car

I was hit by a guy running a red light and wasn’t seriously injured but expect to be very sore for a couple of weeks. I am an actor and under contract to perform a live show, so taking time off is not an option- it would end my career in this town, so I have to work in pain. Also, I am unable to use painkillers or muscle relaxers due to a history with drug abuse, so the pain is full on. I don’t feel the need to contact an attorney, but feel I should be compensated somewhat for this guy’s negligence.

A car took a red light and hit a car and that car spun and hit me. The girl that ran the red light totaled her car and the car she hit. I only have front end damage ( I have a 97 Infiniti). I got a call from her insurance (Farmers Insurance) and they told me to get an estimate. I took it to two different body shops and they both estimated over 2500.00 in damages. The estimate doesn’t include the car seat that also needs to be replaced (I had my 2 year old daughter in the car when I was hit) So I call Farmers Ins and they told me I have to take it in to one of their people to take a look at it. What is going to happen?

So today I was coming to a red light and was stopping ( was basically fully stopped) I was putting the cap back onto my soda, and dropped it causing a spill, so I jumped, and accidentally idled into the car in front of me (barely tapped into it) causing a little bit of paint to be chipped off of her car. My luck it was a little old lady who to me appeared to be the type who will act like shes hurt and try to get any penny she can out of the situation. I know it was my fault but it was an honest mistake, and luckily was nothing critical.

At first she was fine, just pissed off, she insisted on calling the police, police showed up, the officer was very short and seemed frustrated because his time was wasted. As soon as he goes to talk to her she says I slammed into her and it jerked her neck, but he wasnt buying it he let her know he saw her walking around moving her head around and that she is fine. Later when he talked to me he let me know he marked on the report that noone was hurt, she had pre-existing damage to her car, that I just chipped some paint, and that I only idled into the car.

sorry for the long story, my question out of this is, can she claim for an injury (im sure she will try) if theres no way to show the accident could have cause it? and if it she is able to what will happen to me?

all answers are appreciated. THANK YOU!

I was recently in a car accident and I sued the person because I was hit in the back and my car was totaled. I went to physical thearpy for a few weeks and I went to the doctor every weekend. I was not a fault in the accident. My lawyer is settling my case within the next four to six weeks and I would like to know a good settlement amount that I should recieve after medical bills and the lawyers fee. How long does it usually take to recieve another offer if you decline the first offer? The claim was submitted to Geico and I heard they are pretty fast. Just to FYI the lawyer recieves a third.
The officer issued the driver a ticket for reckless driving, I was hit from the back at a red light. My medical bills maybe are at 2500 and it was back pain and swelling in my leg. The claim is being submited within 4-6 weeks. What should be the expected amount???

Setteling a car accident claim?

So I was in an accident on Friday, I was stopped behind a truck at a red light and a pick up truck just ran into me at 30 mph. My car is crushed, I got out, no broken anything, but pain everywhere. The driver that hit me, told the cop, she just wasn’t paying attention. Any idea on what that kind of case might be worth? Or how long it might take to settle?
